Worldwide ceremonies held to mark ۴۵th anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution

Ceremonies have been held across the world to commemorate the ۴۵th anniversary of the glorious victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

Celebrations took place in the Vatican, as well as the capitals of Russia, China, Japan, South Korea, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Spain, Hungary, Bangladesh, Denmark and Ireland.

Each year on the ۲۲nd of the solar calendar month of Bahman, which corresponds with February ۱۱, Iranians mark the overthrow of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in a popular uprising led by Ayatollah Ruhullah Khomeini, the charismatic leader of the revolution.

Less than two months after the victory of the ۱۹۷۹ Islamic Revolution, Iranians took part in a referendum, where more than ۹۸ percent of eligible voters voted “yes” to the Islamic Republic as a new political system.

Additionally, a referendum was held in December ۱۹۷۹, when ۹۹.۵ percent of voters approved the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In Tokyo, high-ranking Japanese government and parliamentary officials, foreign ambassadors, and Iranian nationals participated in the ceremony marking the Islamic Revolution’s anniversary.
