Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi and his cabinet members have paid a visit to the holy mausoleum of the founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini on Wednesday on the eve of anniversary of his historic return to his homeland in 1979 after years of exile.

The president and his entourage paid tribute to Imam Khomeini and renewed allegiance to his causes ۴۵ years since the victory of the revolution.

Every year, Iranians mark the anniversary of their Islamic Revolution from February ۱ to ۱۱, known as the Ten-Day Dawn ceremonies. During the celebrations, Iranians take part in different events and activities to mark the occasion.

Led by Imam Khomeini, the Islamic Revolution was driven by anti-imperialist sentiments since former Iranian monarch Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was heavily dependent on Western powers, not least the United States.

By toppling the Pahlavi regime ۴۴ years ago, the Iranian nation ended ۲,۵۰۰ years of monarchic rule in the country and established a new political system – a republic based on Islamic values and democracy.
