Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on neighboring countries of Iran to expel “foreign aggressors” from their territory, arguing that the so-called US security umbrella is “full of holes

“Touted US security umbrella has proven to be full of holes and inviting rather than deterring trouble. US is now begging others, even China, to help it make Hormuz safe. Iran calls on brotherly neighbors to expel foreign aggressors, especially as their only concern is Israel,” Araghchi said in a post on X on Saturday night.

The Strait of Hormuz effectively remains closed amid the US-Israeli war with Iran, which entered its 15th day on Saturday. Iran says the strait is closed to tankers and ships of enemies.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump urged France, Britain, China, Japan, and South Korea to keep the key waterway open, through which 20% of global oil and gas travels.
